The Center Gallery in west Nashville will celebrate its grand opening from 7-9 p.m. Nov. 13 (Saturday) with a special exhibition of original works by more than a dozen Middle Tennessee artists. The "Expressions in Spirit" exhibition will run through Dec. 31, 2010. Participating artists include Pat Arnold (paintings in acrylic), Carol Batey (paintings in acrylic), Carla Christina Contreras (mixed media photography), Meredith Green (paintings in oil), Shirley Geier (paintings in watercolor), Eric L. Hansen (mixed media), Nancy S. Hilgert (drawings in graphite), Vivian Hutchinson (photography), Lisa Jennings (sculpture and mixed media), Candy Paull (photography on tile), and Bob Teesdale (photography). The grand opening celebration will include live music by pianist Dan Defigio and complimentary hors d'oeuvres. Admission is free. The Center Gallery will be located in the Community Room at the Center for Spiritual Living Nashville, 6705 Charlotte Pike. "CSLN is known for its musical talent and passion for the arts, so opening an art gallery is a natural step for us," said Irene Teesdale, curator for the Center Gallery. "The gallery will serve as a co-op for the arts community, providing much-needed exposure and encouragement for visual artists in all genres. We plan to host six exhibitions per year."
