Please pray for Steven Curtis' family.

I just heard today that the Chapman family lost their 5 year old daughter, who was hit by a car. That is so horribly sad and gut wrenching to think about, I can't even fathom it. My sincerest prayers go out to that family . . . and I would ask anyone who prays to pray for them.

I was stunned when I heard what had happened to Maria. I was introduced to Steven through his brother Herbie back in '92 when I moved here. His brother Herb and I went to the same church over in Antioch. Incredible family. Actually got to go over to a baby shower at Steven's with my family when Herb and his wife Sherrie brought their adopted daughter home from China. Maria was probably around two or three at the time. Same age as my youngest son at the time. It was hilarious to watch them chase each other around the room.

To the Champman family, you guys are in our prayers.

We will miss you Maria.

I talked to some members of the family on Friday. Obviously this is such a terrible double tragedy...Not only the loss of this precious child, but the lasting effect this will have on Will Franklin. They asked to please pray for him. He is not doing well as would be expected. He will suffer the rest of his life and the family with have to cope with both of these. I walk with SCC;s mom every year in Relay for Life in Paducah when we live. We are both cancer survivors. I have known her since Steven and Herb Jr. were little boys and I recorded their dad's(Herb Sr.) group. Then when they grew up I worked with them a lot in the 80's Judy is a sweet lady. I know this year will be extra difficult on her. Please keep all of them in your prayers in these coming days....

We just don't know what our Lord's plan is with things like this. I know there is a reason, but for the life of me I keep asking why......

It was horrible to hear what happened. I left a message for Herb back before Friday but honestly don't expect to hear from him for another week or so. Apparently Herb was one of the first ones on the scene of the accident. I think he was working in the barn when it happened. When he got there Will Franklin was holding Maria. I'm not sure if you know Jim and Yolanda Chapman. Jim is Mary Beth's brother. We have known them since we moved here 16 years ago. They go to the same church we do. Jim was taking it really hard on Sunday. They have adopted two girls from China, so you can imagine how they are feeling. Needless to say, we have prayers going up in all sorts of directions for all the Chapman family's. Please keep in touch.

Thank you all for your prayers and support of the Chapman family. The throng of friends and family at the visitation and funeral was immense and I'm sure meant a lot to the family, who each shared from their hearts at the Memorial service with amazing courage, wisdom and insight.
