Hello Friends,

I have three cool and useful PTs 7.3 goodies to share. If you already know this ....then.....never mind. I don't get out much!

1-For the mix window, if you'd like to turn an entire fader or group of faders a given COLOR, select the fader or group, then hold "control-option-apple" while you select a color. Then with the mouse clicked drag upward on the color selected and the entire fader or group of faders will turn that color. How much you drag will also affect the intensity of the color.

2-To switch all tracks to "volume automation" view in the edit window simply "control-option-apple" while clicking on a fader handle in the MIX window. You will see all tracks in the EDIT view switch to "volume" automation mode. To switch back to the "wave form" view, simply "control-option-apple" while clicking on the color bar in the EDIT window and all tracks will switch back to "wave form".

3. To double the size of a mono meter in the mix window, "control-option-apple" while clicking the meter and it will double in size. Works even in narrow view.

Enjoy. Happy Holidays...........TR

Here's a new one I just stumbled upon the other day... In the edit window, you can quickly jump to the volume automation playlist by placing the playback cursor in that track and hitting the minus key on the main keyboard (not the number pad). Hitting it again will jump right back to the waveform. Not sure if this works on any version before 7.4, but chances are that it does. Enjoy!
Good find, works on multiple selections as well, both PC and Mac platforms.
The most time saving for me (I've been doing a lot of editing lately) have been the F buttons. F1-F4 control the mode you are in: Shuffle, Slip, Spot, and Grid respectively. Also, if you press F4 again Grid mode becomes Relative Grid mode, which is nice for flying regions which don't land exactly on the grid. It will slide, copy, etc. based on the exact offset of the original region location.
F6-F8 control your editing functions, Crop, Selection, and Grab. If you press any of them more than once it will shuffle through the different options for each. Also, if you press any two of them simultaneously it will activate the smart tool.

I think the most useful command I've used, however, is Command-S!
Control+Option+Command+Clicking on any meter in the mix window makes the meters "fat." Not sure how it benefits the session, but it's pretty to look at. ;-)
Doesn't work on Stereo tracks though. That's a bummer. Maybe in 8.0...
It does when you're not in Narrow Mix mode.

Maybe it's just me, but I feel like the meter ballistics are a bit different in this mode, too. Feels right.
My fav trick, If you want to duplicate something back to the left,(like a bar of click or a bar of loop) hold down control, opt. And apple and click on the audio with the grabber, boom.
Are you working on LE or HD? In Commands Keyboard Focus mode on HD, for instance (and I'm not at the studio today, so this is from memory), "U" snaps sync point of the selected region to TC. "J" snaps the sync point of the selected region to the playhead and "K" snaps the end of the selected region to the playhead. I believe these may be different in LE (but I work in HD, so I'm not sure). I was on the alpha test team for PT 5.0 when Commands Keyboard Focus was developed, but that was a long time ago and I'm sure some things may have shifted (including my memory).
Please let me clarify. I'm in HD, just was mixing up my terminology. I Apologize. Thanks for reaching out! That's awsome btw...cool accolade. 5 was a big step for PT, and lots of what was developed in 5, is still around.

Snap to timecode
Snap start of selected region to timecode: 'Y'
Snap sync point of selected region to timecode: 'U'
Snap end of selected region to timecode: 'I'

This group of commands allows you to snap your selected region to the play head position.
Snap start of selected region to play head: 'H'
Snap sync point of selected region to play head: 'J'
Snap end of selected region to play head: 'K'

There's a really cool article on command focus mode here.

FYI In PT 8, while comping vocals with the new playlist view, Control-option-V will copy and paste the selected audio in your playlist to the main comped final track in one step. Very cool!! huge time saver.
