Come visit me at the Celemony Melodyne Booth. Hall A, Booth 6900

If I'm not there, I'm walking around drooling...

John, what are the dates and times?
It's this Thurs-Sun, 17th-20th. Not sure of times...usually it starts around 9 or 10 and goes to like 6. This is the L.A. NAMM at the Anaheim Arena. I'll probably be set up for the Nashville one in June, but nothing's confirmed yet. If anyone wants me to check out some stuff for them that can't go, send me an email, and I'll see what kind of goodies, info, and contacts I can bring back home for everyone...For example : Last year the guys at Dangerous Music offered to ship me a summing box to try out...never did follow through, tho...

Hey John, I didn't get any passes this year. Let me know if you know of any. I live in Burbank. Would love to come visit ya! If not have a Great one and enjoy the toys for us! ;-) JOE
NAMM Update #1

I haven't got a chance to see a whole lot of "new stuff, yet, but Ill have more tomorrow
But, here's a short version of what I did get to see, so far...

New spectrasonics toy!!! - Omnisphere, Eric Pershing, himself, demonstrated some very cool sounds with this toy

Waves bundled Neve, SSL, and API in one collection

Apple isn't even at the show, this year

The new akai MPC6000 is pretty sick, if you're into MPCs

SSL demo'd the new Duende Mini

TL Audio showed off their sexy new "ivory" series classic gear. Extremely high quality stuff (Channel strip, pres, etc)

Gonna hit an Ableton session tomorrow with Avril Lavigne's MD on using Live for studio and Stage.

Most of the first day has been spent demonstrating Melodyne alongside some professionals, such as Joerg, a sound designer/programmer for Remote Control (Hans Zimmer's company), Anselm, Mike, Stefan (programmers of Melodyne from V1), and even Peter (the genius behind the program, himself). Tomorrow I believe were going to get an (internal) peek at V4, completely rebuilt audio engine with better algorithms, track grouping for edits, etc

NAMM goers seem to be a bit more calm and laid back, this year (maybe because Apple didn't show...who knows), but some of the legends I've seen walking around day one include :

Eddie Kramer
David Grissom
Johnny Hiland
Some metalheads I didn't really recognize. Lol

Ill have another (hopefuller bigger and beefier) update, tomorrow guys. Keep Rockin'!!

J

PS. If anyone has anything they'd like me to check out, please let me know, because there's NO way I can possibly hit it all. There's 5 halls, each nearly arena size. I could spend a month drooling, here. LOL
John,

Thanks for the update. Does Waves have a price point on their new bundle collection? Appreciate you sharing all this with us!

Bret

I think it was (MSRP) 2400 native. Ill confirm it today. They used a Norah Jones demo session and the API EQs souded amazing, even in such a hard to hear setting. Of course, being a youngling in the industry, Ill be modest and say that I don't know how they truly compare to the original 550s. I know you can really boost the output of the plugins into clip and it works the same. Its output volume doesn't go straight to the next plugin, so u can really boost it into a warm saturation. It sounded great.

On price, They only give me msrp, since their distributors, but generally retail is about 20 percent cheaper however I'm not sure how waves works yet. I believe they are their own distributor, but I know Alto Music has the best deal on Waves that I've seen, esp since NARAS ened their waves deal.

Ill check today for all versions, plus try to speak with pershing about Omnisphere. What I say thus far, its kind of like atmosphere on steroids. Ill see if he can give a projection on UB updates for Atmosphere and Trilogy...maybe Omnisphere has the same sounds as atmosphere...hmm

Also, I didn't want to flood the forum with similar topics. Would u mind (if u deem necessary) changing the topic in case people want to find out what's going on? Thanks TeeDaddy. :-)
John, You can change/edit the title of the topic by double clicking on it or choosing Edit Discussion up at the top of the post.
Ah but it won't let me do it from my phone. I can use the forum tho, finally. I thought maybe u could use ur magical admin powers. No worries. G;day!!!
