Adult "post office"! I heard it was Tony Brown. (Which meant to me that he just wanted that person to lay out for that section) Don't let the facts get in the way of a good story!
I heard that was Bill Monroe.
This was said by a frustrated drummer at the end of a very long tour: "After this, I'm going to have to play blues in a whorehouse for a year just to get my soul back."
skosh |skō sh |
noun informal
a small amount; a little.
PHRASES
a skosh somewhat; slightly : it's a skosh more formal than one might like.
ORIGIN 1950s: from Japanese sukoshi.
That's wonderful info on "skosh"! I always wondered where it came from.
not sure if I've got the details right on this one, but I believe that Roy Acuff, upon hearing a horn section that had been added to one of his tracks, commented, "I ain't sure I like'em bugles."
I have to add this one, even though it's not a "Nashville" story, and may not even be true, but I LOVE it just the same: Kenny G played some soprano sax on a Frank Sinatra record. Upon hearing playback, Frank said, "Great tune. Lose the snake charmer."
My friend Alan (producer) doesn't like it when a drummer hits a crash cymbal with the snare on the backbeat. He says, "Don't play the dog jumping through a hoop."
"That one was good....Let's do one more for 'safetix'!"
Quote from "The Prophet Omega" 1984....describing how Shipp Movers will handle your furniture....Oh the Prophet....the funniest man to ever be on the airwaves in Nashville.
I was just making sure that gherm was included. It is. I hate gherms.
anyone ever heard of "Red-heasin It"?
referring to putting it in record while the band goes through it, for the first time.
incase they get it right on the first take
So that is what it's called. I just hit record and hope they don't notice...
