Shit I'll chime in if nobody cares...... I was listening to some Early Paul Simon this afternoon and shit, Barry was great. I only got to work with him a few times, Hank Jr and a couple others.... but as a man of few words, and that bulldog look, when he said something that mattered he smiled...... He is and will be missed...... My best to the family.... Keep me post on the memorial service,,, I heard maybe July 12th......
Here I go again.... 3,269 members and Mike Porter and i are the only one to comment on this great?????

WTF????? Kids, they don't know.......
Mark, it may mean that we're the old farts now.
Sentimental & respectful, old farts......
I just found this post,I haven't been on in a while.
I use to read the liner notes religiously back in the late 70's all of the 80's and 90's and couldn't wait to get here and meet some of the Nashville Machine.I have been in town for 11 years now and have been fortunate to have met and worked with some of my heros.Although I never got to met him I was very aware of who Barry Beckett was, he is one of my favorite players/producers. I really would like to have met him and shook his hand. I first became a fan of the Hank Jr records he produced for Jimmy Bowen and Lynnwood Productions back in the day an as I grew as a player,I discovered a lot more things that he was involved with that I never knew ,but loved. He was a very gifted man and Nashville was lucky to have had him as part of the Machine.
My heart goes out to his family and friends,
God Speed Barry Beckett, you ROCKED this world and made it a funkier place to live!!!
Thank You for what you gave us all.
sincerely,
Tom
I would not have had a career if it weren't for Barry,Jimmy Johnson,David Hood, and my brother Roger Hawkins...they "nudged" acts into using me back in the 70's....their friendship and acceptance of me as an equal meant the world to me then and even more now....I will miss "Bear" so very much...but his talent as a player, producer, and a picker of songs and getting the best performance out of everyone on the session , live on in the music he helped make for damn near 40 years..He and Jerry Wexler together were a really incredible team,....I'm so very honored to have been on a lot of their records.........Rest peacefully Barry...you deserve it!
