I'm feeling a little like the lone ranger here.....

Permalink Reply by Ken Soper on January 6, 2012 at 1:52am There are a number of us down in the Boro who have used Sonar since it was Cakewalk Pro Audio. I'm on 8.5 Producer and my friend Jason has been using X1 since its release. I'm waiting on a computer upgrade before going to X1, but 8.5 on Win XP SP3 has been rock solid for a long time. It may not be as glossy as PT but it does what I want it to do, and does it every day without complaint. I'm a die-hard fan.
You're not alone! (But maybe we need a support group.)
Permalink Reply by Dana B Martin on January 6, 2012 at 10:27pm Ken, thank you for the reply. I feel much less leprous now. Not being all that familiar with ProTools, I'm really not familiar with what it may have that Sonar doesn't. I'd like to hear some of the stuff you've recorded.
I've been using X1 for a few months and I like it pretty well so far. There's a bit of a relearning curve, since many of the old shortcuts and menus are changed. That's hard on my carbonized, not-so-flexible brain, but overall I think it's pretty good.
A support group, yes! And a 12-step program too, perhaps.....but no, they say you have to WANT to quit....
Permalink Reply by Roy Vogt on January 15, 2012 at 6:31pm Sonar (Producer Version 7) is my platform of choice as well. Truth be told, I can really fly in Pro Audio 9 so if it's for me and me alone, that's where I go. I've also got one computer running Pro Tools LE for those who MUST have their work in that format, but since the majority of my business out of my home studio is online Bass Tracks, generally I can work in any DAW and just send audio files.
I've just signed a deal with PreSonus so I'll be investigating their Studio One software, I'm sure. I'll definitely be looking to see how it compares with the ease of use and file storage in Sonar.
Permalink Reply by Dana B Martin on January 21, 2012 at 1:00am I'd like to get your thoughts on the Studio One.
Permalink Reply by Roy Vogt on January 21, 2012 at 8:13pm I'll be taking delivery of the new system post NAMM Show so I'll keep you posted.
Permalink Reply by Dana B Martin on March 1, 2012 at 12:52pm Any more Sonar lovers out there? I'd particularly like to hear from folks that are using X1.
Permalink Reply by Dana B Martin on March 2, 2012 at 11:36am Roy, Ken, and Jon....the song I just posted was done on Sonar X1 Producer, using almost entirely Cakewalk plug-ins. The only non-Cakewalk things I used were Waves Maxbass, L2, and Linear Broadband eq.
I just started using Sonar X1 Producer. It's taken a while to navigate around it, but the more I learn about it the better I like it.
BTW they are talking about X2 coming out.
