show all tracks
delete all unused tracks
on any track, show playlist menu and delete all unused playlists from all tracks
shift+command+U (selects all unused regions)
shift+command+B (deletes all selected regions) - choose "remove" (default) instead of "delete"
under file menu, choose "save copy in"
make sure to select "all audio files"
session will be stored in new location with only files used in session

Thanks guys. I know about he consolidate part and how to highlight the audio tracks.... Just figured there would be a shortcut to choose the unwanted files and delete. The idea is to save hard drive space on finished files and also if I'm backing up to DVD.

Jim is on the right trail.

Or in the process of making backups of just the audio files... consolidate all files, double click all the files, then use shift-apple-k to export just the highlighted files to a new folder, the send that folder to your DVD burner....

BTW: check all cross fades before you consolidate. You don't want any bad punches in your consolidated files. I always create a new playlist before consolidating so I can always get back to the original source if I need to.

If you don't like all those playlists (like me) you can Save As... alternate copies of the session in different states of consolidation. It's a little different than Save a Copy in... but gets you levels of undo like playlists. Either way...
