Maybe I'm not being specific enough. Here's the deal. You can charge WHATEVER you want......99 cents......25 cents......5 cents.....it's up to you. And you get to keep ALL OF THE MONEY YOU MAKE!!!! This is a widget that you can put on any web page, it's not a music store. It's YOUR music store. OK, now I sound like a salesman.......This is something you need to check out! I think these guys are on to something!
Thanks for posting this. Yes, these guys have a nice site and great technology AND the right idea. It is wonderful for the household name who is ready to ditch their label connections and do it all themselves or for a label who wants to ditch iTunes or CDBaby or...you name it and keep all the proceeds in their pocket. Power to the people!!!
However, let us not forget that it is up to the individual to drive traffic to their widget or get their widget in enough places to generate sales.
Part of the appeal of CDBaby and iTunes is the large amount of "window" shoppers they have and the ability for an unknown artist (sometimes with a popular song) to generate sales through search results on those sites.. This all translates into more sales and a bigger fan bases down the road, hopefully.
Anyway, love to see all the new ways people are trying to "corner" the markets.
Yeah, I think there will always be "stores" like iTunes for those reasons. I don't see Bandbox as an replacement for iTunes at all, but rather an additional way to sell music (and merch) directly to fans in a much more lucrative way for the artist and or label.
