I have a favor to ask - client sent me a Sibelius file, but I don't have Sibelius--I need to import it into Finale. Anyone here have the software to help? I believe Sibelius + a third party program called Dolet is necessary to save the file as an XML. Anyone able to lend a hand?

Ha! Jim, you did an excellent job! If things hadn't slowed down (from 16 hours a day to 10) I'd still be calling you with last minute bailout requests.

Guys, I'd love to see a discussion begin on Finale. Always good to learn a new trick or two...

"Dreaming noteheads..." David, with the little bit of work I did with/for you I can't imagine doing it 10 hours a day (BTW you're slacking off a bit you used to tell me it was 12 to 16 hours a day). As for shortcuts, I just called David and drove him crazy with a million questions, he's probably glad not to have my 'help' anymore : )

Anyway, I use Finale when I need to have it good enough for others to read (my own stuff gets scribbled on napkins and the backs of envelopes).

Full-time Finale-ist for 12 years now, closet Finale user before that. Shortcuts? I think the trick to it is using it constantly, 10 hours a day, every day, chained to the computer. After a while, you start dreaming noteheads...

Started on Overture, then moved to Sibelius. Love the improvements they've made over the years.

Finale for about 20 years now. I do everything from templates.

Sibelius user. I play both horns and rhythm instruments so I understand both worlds. I always assume the player gets one shot so make it readable!

I use Finale, and would like to hear about other engraver's setups and approach to work. Any favorite shortcuts that have improved your workflow?

Start a Finale discussion if you like, by all means.
