Ladies - if you want to be on the evite list for upcoming female audio events, please send me your email address and I will make sure you get the info. Generally these are just meet & greet evenings, usually on Sunday evenings. If you have suggestions on venue, they must be available Sunday nights, as we have found that it is the least likely night for everyone to have a session. Not sure why, but it works......

You can get closer to the downtown area without being on Music Row. Depends on what you want for your business. There certainly is a lot for rent on Music Row right now.

I operate my studio from East Nashville's 5-Points area and we are 5 minutes from downtown and really love the area. If you know what you are doing, you can work anywhere you want, I believe. The clients will keep coming in the door and coming back again.

To all the engineers and studio owners,
I am thinking about relocating my studio from Franklin to the Music Row area or close by. Is this a good idea and what are your thoughts about working on music row?
I work alone in my house in Franklin and would like to get closer to the downtown energy.
I would appreciate your comments.

Thanks
Liz

Oh yeah, and there was busting my ass because I knew if I didn't, someone else would and I'd be outta there.

I got a full time studio gig by luck and timing... I didn't screw up the coffee or the food orders, and I never thought any job was below me. Then when it came time, I just never dropped the ball. The guy ahead of me in the old school "ladder" way of doing things just couldn't handle the pressure and bugged out in the middle of a session. Next session, they needed someone and there I was - for the next 8 years through thick and thin.
Now I don't have the luxury of the full time gig, but I have the freedom of choice. I think I was one of the last of a generation of full timers. The big studios that are left just don't think they "need" staff engineers.
