Having performed in several clubs, I can tell you which ones I thought sounded best from the stage. That aside, I have also been to several shows as an audience member, and my major complaint is simply the overall levels in most rooms. I understand that drums are loud, blah, blah, blah, but seriously. I have been to shows where, if the drums had not been mic'd, you would not have heard them over the rest of the band.
