Fellow World Music Gurus, I want to take a few moments to pay tribute to a dear friend who passed a few months ago in December, 2011.  Tom Roady was a member of WMG's, and a long time member of NMP also.  He was a phenomenal percussionist and a tremendous individual who contributed to his community in amazing ways as an outstanding friend and musician to many of us here. Tom played with artist such as Simon & Garfunkel, Aretha Franklin & Ricky Skaggs, among others.  I am afraid I'm late in posting this, to show my respects to him, but I wanted to make sure that all within our WMG community are aware of the passing of this great man and great contributor within our music community to the world music beats we all love.  Godspeed, Tom.  We'll see you when we get there.

I'd like to say welcome to an old friend of mine, Ric Dominico, to the World Music Gurus group!  Ric is a fantastic talent as an orchestrator and arranger, and also has a tremendous voice!  We go all the way back to my time as a student at Belmont, when I had him singing on demos of songs I was producing for various publishers at the time.  WELCOME RIC!

My most sincere apologies to those who were awaiting approval to join the World Music Gurus!  I had not noticed the queue that had several awaiting approval, some since February even!  And since it is my responsibility to approve these, it was my neglect alone to have done so!  BUT with this most humble apology, let me also say WELCOME TO THE NEW MEMBERS OF THE WORLD MUSIC GURUS OF NASHVILLE MUSIC PROS!  Please say hello and tell us about yourself, if you so desire!  I'm always curious as to who our local world music lovers and gurus are, what instruments you perform or functions you are a part of in the structure of world music arts.  Thank you for being a part of our tiny world music community!  CHEERS!

Thanks for the awareness, Nan.  How can any interested gurus get involved?

Thanks,

Pete.

Mike, welcome to the group. I'm curious, though... Does your wife want you on the road more or off the road more?

Hey Mandy! Welcome aboard!

Neal, that'd be much appreciated. I eat quite frequently at Taste of India in Franklin, and upon occasion at Sitar. I'd asked the owner at Taste of India, and his suggestion was to call Ganesa Temple also. I work with some artists from India, but alas, they are there or elsewhere other than Nashville.

We should be inviting these people to join perhaps? They are musicians in Nashville, and I'd assume functioning in some capacity within the music industry, right?

Hi Pete,
My Mom's side of the family is full blooded Mexican. Dad is German. I only know a little Espanol and no German. What a shame. Being that I am a writer, I could have gained so much as a writer by being tri lingual. Anyhewwww, I am a die hard Marc Anthony fan and I love the music of Gilberto Santa Rosa. Doc Martin and I have created Continental Country. We consider this music for people on any and every continent. There are latin, blues, r & b, pop, disco, country and jazz influences in our music with the brilliance of Doug Jernigan on Steel and Wanda Vic on fiddle, mandolin and banjo. One of the things that is so wonderful about Music City USA is that you can literally hear almost any genre of music down town. I love Nashville and I love Tennessee!!!

Hi Pete, There are several really great Indian players in Nashville and some that come through Nashville a lot. There are several people from Ganesha Temple that play all sorts of traditional Indian instruments. A really great contact to have is Naresh Kumar. He owns Sitar restaurant and knows nearly everyone in the Indian community and most of the people at Ganesha Temple. Although, I don't live in Nashville anymore, I have several really great contacts for Indian musicians in Nashville that I will send you. :)

FYI friends, if you're curious, the picture I used when setting up this group was a result of a photo from my iPhone that was taken of Benny Prasad, an artist and musician from India was working with me to mix his newest album, not yet released. Anyway, I zero'd in on part of his shirt and had a little fun with the colors. I'm hoping I can get Benny to join us at some point. He's a delightful guy and he had some amazing players on his album like Pedro Eustache, Phil Keaggy, Buddy Green & Paul Livingstone.
