Wow! Tons of new additions! Welcome all of you!

TR, I figured there were a couple of guys in town that played Tablas, but I've never run across any of them. Same goes for any hard core wind players that can do shakuhachi or Bansuri or Duduk. Never run across any. Anyway, what I'm hoping to do here is actually bring these folks into our group (and even NMP if need be). I'd like to have a place where those of us who love the not so ordinary to identify and collaborate or at least find community.

TR, do you play Tablas? I'd not recalled you ever saying so. I know you play most other percussion instruments.

I just love creativity and world music with lots and lots of percussion possibilities.

A very beautiful video...I liked it a lot ...I admire any musician that can dedicate their musical and spiritual life to a musical form so intense and complex as Indian music....especially Indian Classical music....these guys really do have a different sound and take on this music....very fresh and enlightening...thanks for posting the link Pete and Jim...well done...hope to meet sometime soon...and I hope you can meet my friend Kirby Shelstad here in Nashville...he has been studying tabla for several years with several teachers from all over....he is in India right now for a month....and he too is a REAL tabla player.

Thought you guys might enjoy seeing this video of some friends. It's a trailer for their new DVD. These guys are all americans, but they've dedicated their lives to studying Indian Classical music, and the result has been tremendous. Our fellow member, Jim, is a part of this group. I'm completely captured by their music. Jim is playing the Tabla parts in this. I love how the fuze east and west so seamlessly. This is a beautiful example to me of how western ears can experience eastern classical music in a way that is comfortable to their ears.

Everyone please welcome Jim! He's from Cincinnati, but he's the closest REAL tabla player I know!
