I've been in Nashville since 1971 and have played on projects for most artists on most labels in town, produced #1 records for radio, sold gold, written hits no one has ever heard and am the world's most reluctant publisher - but that's gonna change... I have a record label with two partners - Trifectone Music Group. I'm married with three kids and one granddaughter.
I like to read and to play tennis.
I am great Biff! Thanks for befriending me out here. How is business?
O'Dell was (is) my daddy. (1938-1985) He beat that road to death for 30 years, wearing many hats. And yes, bus driver was one of them. You must have met him when he was with Donna Fargo maybe? But that would have been in the early 70's. He hired and (reluctantly) fired more players trying to put that thing together. That's back before Soundcheck and rehearsal rooms existed. Heck, they rehearsed in our basement my whole childhood. Good times. I met so many great pickers back then.
When I saw that you had been here for 36 years, I thought "what the heck," I'll ask. You must have arrived around the same time as Paul Franklin? He was 18 when daddy hired him to work for Donna. He had an afro. LOL But didn't everybody back then? It's funny, I met Brent M. when he first got here, too! I was in high school with his brother Randy, and he said, "Yeah, my brother plays thumbstyle like Chet." I told him, "Hey, so does my dad! Bring him to the house and let him play for him." I'll never forget the look on my dad's face when he heard him. Then he moved on to the world famous Stagecoach. I need to write a book.
I am only 44, but I am a Nashville Brat, born and bred. I think Daddy met Carl Jackson when he was with Donna and they were out in Vegas. Carl was with Glen Campbell. He gave me some cassettes several years ago that he had recorded on a boom box of daddy playing for hours in a hotel room.
Well, you didn't ask for all of that, but there it is. LOL I guess running into so many of my old buddies out here started my wheels to churning.
Thanks for letting me bend your ear...or eyes. ;-)
Good bumping into you the other night. Hope all is well in Biff world. Love to have you come out to MOD NIGHT this Monday, July 21st. We're on at 8:30pm at the Rutledge. Hope to see you there.
