Here are some recommendations from my friend Harry Butler, who owned a pair. I had forgotten about Phase Linear and SAE.

"I had a Phase Linear 700 on the bins (Altec 15s had been swapped out for 400w Gauss 15s), with a SAE 100w/ch on the mids and an Ace Audio 35w/ch on the HF drivers (808-8B's with the aluminum "hifi" diaphragm). Other "suitable" amps for A7s were McIntosh tube (50w, as I recall), Hafler D200 and Crown DC150 and DC300."
