Nice to meet you, shootout on mic pre's looks interesting. Never got to mess with a Neve, but I fell pretty quickly in love with a UA 2-610 once. Know some people who love the Avalon. I'd imagine anything Neve cranks out is the bomb. Heard him in a lecture talking about Japanese doctors doing an audio test on him w/ freq's beyond the range of human hearing as harmonics of a freq he could hear for the change we can perceive. It was a great segue into his consoles which go above and beyond.
