JD Shelburne is southern rock mixed with mainstream country and authentic singer-songwriter musicianship at its finest. Counting Alan Jackson, Keith Urban, and Garth Brooks among his major influences, this Taylorsville, Kentucky native’s emotionally-driven play list is laden with ‘songs from the heart, about the heart, vulnerable and honest’. After a childhood in Taylorsville, Kentucky listening to country music religiously, he developed interest in guitar after the death of his dearest grandmother during college. Performing shows in the college towns of Lexington and nearby Louisville, Kentucky for several years, Shelburne arrived in Nashville, Tennessee in 2008 as one of Nashville's newest stars on the rise! He soon signed a production deal on music row which lead to his first recording project at County Q Studios. The album was produced and sent J.D. Shelburne to a whole new horizon with airplay on radio and television stations nationwide and sent him to venues/ festivals all across the southeast.
JD has had enough recognition to land him in Country Weekly Magazine in March 2009 as a New Hot Artist on the rise, nationwide radio airplay on three songs from his debut album, numerous television appearances, an appearance on The Grand Ole Opry with Steve Wariner, a USO Troop Tour at Camp Shelby in Hattiesburg, MS, performing at countless gigs that include Freedom Hall, The Wildhorse Saloon, CMA Music Festival in Nashville, 4th Street Live, The Bluebird Café, Churchill Downs and Louisville Slugger Field to name a few. JD Shelburne was also invited to be apart of the first ever HullabaLOU Music Festival at Churchill Downs with Bon Jovi, Kenny Chesney and many other national artists in July of 2010.
JD Shelburne has also shared the stage with many national country acts during his career. He has opened for Kellie Pickler, Aaron Tippin, Easton Corbin, Josh Kelley, Johnny Lee, Cowboy Troy, Mark Wills, Josh Gracin, Bryan White, Jeffrey Steele, Trent Tomlinson, Sam Bush, Gloriana, Colbie Caillat, The Kentucky Headhunters, Steve Wariner, Joey & Rory, The Harters, Adam Gregory, Daryl Worley, Crystal Shawanda, Jeremy McComb, David Frizzell, Joe Nichols (2007, 2009, 2009), John Michael Montgomery, Shannon Lawson, Halfway to Hazard and Juice Newton.
JD Shelburne has also headlined numerous award winning festivals all across the southeast since breaking into the country music scene in 2005. J.D. JD Shelburne is currently in the studio wrapping up the recording of his sophomore Nashville release while touring full time.
