My career in the music business started at the age of 13 (1964). I played professionally from 1967 to 1972. During that time I worked as a studio musician and quickly became interested in the other side of the console. That experience led me to pursue a career in audio engineering. The studio I worked for at the time had its own disc cutting lathe. This was my first experience with mastering.
In 1974, I completed a BFA degree in broadcast/film (with an audio major) and began working for Summit Bernet Studios in Dallas, Texas, eventually rising to Vice President and Chief Engineer. I began my freelance work in 1982 and moved to Nashville in 1993. I continued recording and mixing and purchased my first Sonic Solutions system to prep my mixes for mastering. After repeated requests from many clients to master their projects, I decided in 1995, to concentrate solely on mastering. It's been the best business decision I've ever made. I truly love what I do and look forward to helping you with your next project. Come see our new room at 2825 Erica Place (Berry Hill area)
Brutha John! Tickled "sans caca", as the French are wont to say, to run into you here in cyberland. Your name comes up frequently in conversations in assorted studios around town, in hushed tones usually reserved for comments regarding Mother Teresa and Pippi Longstocking. Hope you're well. I know your audio gift is not a well-kept secret anymore and this can only be a good thing. Hope to see you slave over a hot console later this summer. Stay cool!
