Kalii Palmer is a seasoned entertainer who has been performing professionally since the age of 9. She began her performance trail in her home state, Illinois. She began singing in churches and working with a vocal coach who got her involved with some local childrens choirs. Before long she found herself on stage next to Donny Osmond performing in the Andrew Lloyd Weber smash hit Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.
From there Kalii pursued more solo projects, completing her first album at just 13. That same year, she got the chance of a lifetime when she won a contest to sing on stage with Shania Twain at the World Music Theater in Chicago in front of 30,000 people. Shania Twain was supposed to let the winner (Kalii) sing 4 lines solo and then join in for a duet but when it came time for Shania to join in, she just backed up and let Kalii take the stage. Kalii knew this was what she wanted to do forever when 30,000 people gave her a standing ovation and chanted her name. She then began singing at fairs and festivals around the Midwest and soon after got her own band to travel with her.
By the time she was 15, she was working on her second album made up of all original songs, 4 of which she has writing credits on. Kalii continued to tour the Midwest and was soon opening for huge Nashville acts such as: Billy Ray Cyrus, Randy Travis, Charlie Daniels, Billy Dean, John Berry, Toby Keith, Suzy Bogguss and Neal McCoy. She even opened for such acts as Cheap Trick and Chubby Checker. Kalii has been at home in front of thousands of people several times when she performed at Country Thunder in Twin Lakes, WI. By the age of 17 she had her debut on a Nashville stage singing at the Wild Horse Saloon.
In 2003, Kalii decided to move the 500 miles in order to be in the middle of Music City. She then began hard at work with well-known Nashville songwriters such as Joie Scott (..1 hit with Colin Rayes Not that Different and Shania Twains current single Shoes), Sandy Ramos (writer of the Dixie Chicks hit Let Er Rip), and Jane Bach (writer of JoDee Messinas Dare to Dream). She has also had the privilege of writing with Ted Hewitt (who has worked with superstars like Rodney Atkins, Kenny Rogers, Wynonna and Mark Wills) and David Kent (writer of Blake Sheltons hit Austin and Rodney Atkins hit Honesty) and other fellow performers such as Ryan Michaels and John Russell.
Kalii has been performing live all around Nashville at clubs like The Bluebird Café, The Exit/In (in Billy Blocks Western Beat), 3rd and Lindsley Bar and Grill, and Douglas Corner She performs a highly energetic show of all original material. Kalii has continued performing at fairs and festivals all around the Midwest as well as adding Nashville clubs to her repertoire and has already completed three full length Cds as well as countless demos, including one recorded at the Muscle Shoals Sound Studio in Muscle Shoals, Alabama with Walt Alderidge.
In 2004, Kalii was a finalist for a Chicago TV show called "Gimme the Mike Chicago!" that aired on NBC. In 2005 and 2006 Kalii became a finalist in the running for a spot on the National talent competition Colgate Country Showdown. In 2006, Kalii was also one of the finalists being considered for ABC's new show "The One". And in 2007, Kalii found herself in the top 40 fighting for a spot on TBN's show "Inspiration Sensation" which aims for finding the next superstar in Inspirational/Christian Music. In 2008, Kalii signed her first single-song publishing deal and her song debuted during Billy Block's radio show!
Kalii is not just a vocal talent, she has a love of the stage that makes her a breath of fresh air in this industry. In coming out to see her just one time you will surely feel the genuine love of music and endless energy that she puts into each and every performance.
