"Hy Lydia,
I like your music. I haven't heard from you in a while. I am on my way to Austria, where I am going to finalize our tour in May, with my trio. I would love to hear back from you. I will be back in town on Feb. 1st. By the way, our…"

Karl A. Stamey (drums, guitar)
I began playing Guitar and Drums at the age of 10.
My first band won the “Austrian National Award for Best Musical Performance” in the Category of Contemporary Music in 1966.
In 1968 I began to study Jazz Guitar with Radu Malfatti (University School of Music) in Graz, Austria and later refined my technique by studying with Drago Pandurovic (Belgrade Radio Big Band). Drums always were my other passion and as a drummer I was self taught with the input and inspiration of my friend Erich Bachtraegl, one of the finest European Drummers.
During my musical career I played Guitar and Drums with numerous European and International Jazz Musicians like Aldo Pulli, Jane Burkhard, Nelson Cruz, Helmut Fischer, Martin Harms, Chris Schaefer, Jimmy Woode, Tommy Baumgartner, Karl Ratzer, Werner Helmig, Dusan Ivanisevic, Erich Bachtraegl, Kurt Eger, etc. and in numerous Bands like Aldo Pulli Trio, "Kerndl" Jazz Quintet, Werner Helmig Quintet, Stand-Art, Quintet "Metro", "Two-Five-One" Jazz Trio, Jazz Big Band Graz, Jazz Big Band Feldbach, etc.
I moved to the Nashville/Franklin area in 1997 and have been since concentrating on my drumming skills and refining my technique, being coached by George Perilli, one of the finest drummers I have met in this area.
Karl - thank you for finding me here! You look very familiar, I'm sure we've run into one another at some point... Definite yes to making music together – give me a shout if you ever need vocals for any of your projects/gigs. Cheers! :-)
