Production Manager / Independent A&R Admin-Licensing
Ken Johnson Production Services
I've been working in the music industry in Nashville since 1990. I spent 6 years at Word Entertainment (1990-96) and served as A&R Asst, A&R Admin, Bus Affairs Mgr. I joined Sparrow Records/EMI CMG in 1996 and worked there 8 years as Dir A&R Admin and Dir Label Operations. In 2004, I left EMI and started my own company (Ken Johnson Production Services) where I have been working with multiple producers handling production management. I also serve multiple labels as an independent A&R Admin professional handling all aspects of licensing and project management through the recording process.
Some of my production management (production coordinator/assistant) clients have included Brown Bannister, Bernie Herms, Drew Ramsey, Shannon Sanders, David Hamilton, Aaron Lindsey, Israel Houghton, Bryan White, Derek George, Michael W. Smith, Don Moen, Steve Green, Tommy Sims, Phil Naish, Greg Nelson, label clients have included Integrity Music, Centricity Music, Word Entertainment, Warner Nashville, EMI CMG, Inpop Records, Sony Music New York, Wide Open Music Group, and others...
I have thoroughly enjoyed transitioning into self-employment and working with various clients on a wide variety of projects and musical genres. My goal is to provide the best professional services to producers allowing the producer to focus entirely on the creative aspects of the recording process, through budgeting, booking studios, musicians, vocalists, properly navigating AFM and AFTRA sessions/contracts, managing payment of all expenses and insuring projects stay on time and within budget.
When working with record labels and independent artists, I work to cover all legal aspects of releasing a project through project mangement, song licensing, various other legal affairs issues and working with designers to insure that packaging is completed properly with copyright information and all necessary elements required.
