Profile Information

Company Name:
Dyin'Breed Records
About Me:
Country singer/songwriter Melissa Jones is one of six children born into a musical family. A Northern Utah native, her concert pianist mother and die-hard country music fan
father raised their children in a home filled with music which ranged from Mozart to Merle.
Melissa, also a wife and a mother, had dreamed of pursuing a career in music since a very young age. Her dream was put in motion eight years ago, when she recorded a
Patsy Cline song as a birthday gift for her father.
Performing at local nightclubs in Utah, Wyoming and Idaho lead to opening for artists Keith Urban, Terri Clark, Collin Raye, Chris Cagel, The Oak Ridge Boys, Andy Griggs and
The Marshall Tucker Band. Finally, with the support of her family and other committed believers, Melissa made the trip to Nashville and recorded a song which found its way
to noted producer Nelson Larkin. Melissa’s self-titled debut album, produced by Nelson Larkin and Steve Kondor, will be released later this year. The album includes Melissa’s
singles The Perfect Man and Who Do You Think I Am which have already received national airplay at country radio. While working on Melissa’s album, Steve Kondor heard an
unforgettable demo of a heart wrenching song titled, Red, White & Blue Night in Georgia. He contacted the songwriter who put it him in touch with Roxanne Reed, an active
duty military spouse, and a founding member of the Marketing to Military Group (MMG). Melissa recorded Red, White & Blue Night in Georgia for her album and her rich voice
and genuine emotion make the poignant song unforgettable.
MMG, which specializes in introducing products and services to the military market, instantly fell in love with the project. "We believe this song is the first to reflect on the
‘soul’ of the military spouse and family member,” said Roxanne. “Red, White and Blue Night in Georgia is a testament to the love, pride and devotion we all share for our men
and women serving our country." Dedicating a portion of the proceeds to an amazing charity, Hope for
the Warriors, brought the project full circle. "MMG is honored to be able to help their military
community any way possible,” continues Roxanne, “and what better way than through song and
donation support."
“It’s such a great song,” says Melissa. “I have a very strong emotional connection with
this story -- my younger brother Jake was seriously injured in Iraq by a roadside bomb
at the same time I was being pitched this song. He is home now, recovering, but
he and his family have been changed forever. I’m so happy to see his family
back together again and my heart goes out to anyone who has a loved
one serving any where in the world.”
Melissa’s resonant voice pulls your heart and soul into her album.
Her interpretive delivery of each song -- intuitive energy on the
up-tempo songs and warm sentiment on the ballads – shows a
natural entertainer. The release of her debut album proves what
her family knew all along: Melissa Jones was born to sing.

The power of the right partner!

Posted on June 22, 2009 at 10:15am 0 Comments

With fathers day being yesterday, I wanted to talk a little about my best friend and partner, my dad. For the past 9 years I have been attempting some kind of career in the music business. It all started when my younger brother Josh, the youngest of six children was killed in a tragic accident at age 17 at our family business in Utah. Being from such a close family, the devastation was unbearable. Watching my mom and dad loose there baby, and me loose… Continue

"Welcome to the music business"

Posted on June 20, 2009 at 2:02pm 2 Comments

I can't even begin to tell you how many times iv'e been told "Welcome to the music business." It's usually while I am curled up in the fetal position crying my eyes out. I found it so interesting when I first started coming to Nashville with my big eyes on being a big star, how often I'd hear this. I was young, I had a great investor, I had talent, I had paid some major dues, I had opened for huge acts like Terri Clark and Keith Urban, and I had a support group to die for. How could I go wrong?… Continue

You said it, it's a love / hate relationship, but like you, I fell in love with the music and all of those subtle or not so subtle nuances just have to be dealt with as they come up. Really enjoyed the songs, I think you've got all the ammunition you'll need to get there! Stoke
