Phil Anderson replied to Justin Kropf's discussion Recording an accordian
"Well I'm sure your mics are fine. I'm from Scotland, UK and there are loads of accordions here. The biggest problem is, the left hand end moves but generally the top moves more than the bottom. Therefore, I'd suggest keeping the left…"

Profile Information

Occupation:
Musician/producer/sound engineer
About Me:
Since childhood, music has been a big part of my life. I turned pro at 21 and toured the UK with country bands as lead guitar player. Had some great experiences. I was then offered a job in a pop group who had achieved significant chart success, selling some 50 million records. All the gigs were in continental Europe and staged in huge venues. We appeared on many TV shows. I often wondered how I'd been 'chosen' for such a great career.

I started doing studio sessions in the central belt of Scotland and was awarded several gold/platinum discs for my efforts. I eventually developed an interest in folk music and took great pleasure from fusing my deep rooted contemporary elements with traditional instruments/styles. I felt honored to be asked to be a part of Scotland's Gordon Gunn Trio and was delighted to have been the recording engineer on the debut album by 'The Chair', who were presented with the 'Best Scottish Folk Group' award in 2010 in a televised ceremony.

I have also played bass with bands and on many studio sessions and programmed countless drum tracks for commercial recordings.

These days I produce a lot of recordings and do sound engineering as well as playing.

I was granted US immigration in 2004 (thanks to the gold discs) and worked briefly for a sound company in New Orleans. After spending much time and money flying back and fore across the Atlantic, I finally relocated to Hendersonville, Tennessee with my family.

I have a Pro Tools production suite/sound booth in my basement which allows me to record singers/musicians to a high standard and also do sessions for other producers.

Have met some great people round about Nashville and hope this can remain my home forever.
