- I was very interested in music growing up. I started recording as a hobby in the mid 70’s. Played trumpet in the college jazz band while running the sound from on stage. Started touring as sound engineer in 1977 with a band sponsored by Campus Life. In 1979, I started working with a touring sound company in Kentucky. Toured with Debby Boone and Pat Boone for three years. Ran sound for the large Amway Conventions in the early ‘80s. Started touring with Ronnie Milsap in 1982 and worked with him for eleven years. Worked as an assistant engineer on nine of his records. In 1993, I got a call from Steve Wariner offering me his production manager/FOH position. Since then I have engineered Steve’s last seven CDs. Since 1992, I have engineered CD projects for Ronnie Milsap, Phil Keaggy, Bill Anderson, Steve Wariner, Jerry Reed, Pam Gadd, Tanya Savory, Hometown News, Leland Martin, Rhonda Vincent, Rhema Marvanne and hundreds more custom CD projects and demos.
In 1997, I married drummer Nancy Given Prout. Nancy was in Porter Wagoner’s band for three years, before co-forming the all girl band Wild Rose. They had three CDs in the late 80's early 90's on Capitol Records. She enjoys being a full time mom, along with playing drums, engineering and producing custom projects and songwriting. We enjoy using our home studio, Sonar DAW, tubes, analog tape, volleyball, and being parents to our eleven year-old daughter, Erin.

It’s been a while since I’ve taken a trip on a tour bus. Today we left from the Cool Springs Kroger at 7:45 am bound for Louisville, KY. Just a one day trip up and back to play a festival.
So, I get on this ‘05 model Prevost bus. Very nice is an understatement. GPS, two satellite receivers with large LCD flat screen TVs. High speed internet service! (I’m not kidding!) Surround sound, DVD/Blue Ray players, X-Box 360 gaming systems. Each bunk has it’s own radio receiver with CD/DVD player… Continue

I'd like to record vocals to the collaboration with Josh and Abbey "Five Days of My Life". The studio is closer to my home. The song is about a trip home to Iowa. I purchased the multi-track so that we could go back sometime and remix it. The key was better for my voice than Josh. The tracks sounded awesome! I loved playing harmonica on this song. Do you know the hourly rate at Watershed? I can contact Mark B. about a date and price too.

I no longer have the 1214. It went to shitty gear heaven and is now much happier not being responsible for recording sound.
How much do you get an hr for engineering? I need help.
