Join Rick Sat. June 5 at 417 Union Restaurant in Downtown Nashville for a joint record release party and art show. There will be refreshments and live music from local songwriters. I'm enjoying this site a lot and I'm learning a lot about everything that's going on in town. One thing I've come to see is Music City is like an iceberg, you only see a fraction of what's happening on the surface, and that the real work of this town is talent development. It's a constant search for the next song, artist, band or video that will break out and satiate the appetite of that huge ever-hungry audience out there outside the city limits. I see a lot of love of this business, even as we analyze, criticize and sympathize. I think it's cool that there's no "big major label acts" on the site (yet!), that's it's mostly those of us who work in the trenches, being a resource for all the great talent here.
I'm a songwriter who also is a video producer and I'd like to propose this project to my fellow NPM members out there. Here's my idea: I'd like to find a vocalist who would cover one of my songs and collaborate with me to shoot a music video. Sound like fun? Just to be clear, I'll fund the project in exchange for your performance...no cost to the talent.
When we're done we'll both have something to help promote our music endeavors and get some additional exposure around town. And who knows...maybe the Next Big Thing?...or the thing right after that!
