"Rarely does a talent like Ricky B. enter my life. He's a blistering bass player, an excellent song writer, a great singer and, more importantly, he's one of the good guys. They're hard to find these days, you know. Ricky is one gifted boy." Bob Carlisle

"Ricky B reignited my passion for my own music. Play what you love and love what you get!"
Bryan Duncan

"There is no doubt about it, Ricky B. can play a mean bass . soulful, funky and downright talented. But it is a grave disservice to speak only of Ricky.s talents as a bass player. He is one of those too-rare individuals who becomes the glue in a community of people who want to get something done. Author Malcolm Gladwell has labeled such people Connectors and the encouragement and perseverance of Ricky B. to bring people together to accomplish something worthwhile must be seen as an important aspect of his calling. Sure he can play bass with the best of them but it is his gift as a Connector that greatly increases his value for any team that seeks success."

“ROAD LUST “ BY: Bryan Duncan

Posted on June 9, 2008 at 2:35pm 1 Comment

Long as we’re talking about the trials and tribulations of the music business. Let me address “the crack cocain of the next decade”. There is a serious pitfall to all of you who take to the road on tour. When yer away from home for weeks or even months yer gonna face some real desires as a direct result of being “tired, hungry hurt and lonely”. I have yet to find that the reading of scripture and prayer ever prevents an erection in another direction! There is… Continue

“what the hell is up with Christian Radio?”: By Bryan Duncan

“what the hell is up with Christian Radio?”

One of the disadvantages in being a young visionary is that you can see the changes comin in the future of music before the status quo has had time to retool. You are the one who probably asked.. “What the hell is up with Christian Radio?”. I, of course, would never use the word “hell” in that context because it might guarantee that I would never get airplay on Christian Radio ever again. Why? Cause my mom listens to Christian… Continue

Endorsements! (the importance of relationships)

When you think of “endorsements” yer first visual might be Tiger Woods selling cheesy Buicks on T.V.. Like he’s driving one of those everyday when he’s making bank! Driving golf balls farther than you can go on a tank of gas! He has millions of dollars coming in “in endorsements”. Why? cause everybody wants to stand next to the guy that has everybody else’s attention!

But whether you know it or not,… Continue

“Labeling” (about record labels): By Bryan Duncan

Posted on May 31, 2008 at 7:49pm 0 Comments

I think it’s interesting that we refer to the big record company as a “Label”! In a spiritual context the word suggests a trite over judgment of a person or thing based on superficial realities. It’s convenient when yer lookin for a jar of Smuckers grape Jelly in a pantry full of mason jars. But I read a book by Anthony Demello where he suggested that once you “label” someone as a republican or a communist or a Christian or Muslim… from that point on you cease… Continue

Bookin the GIG By Bryan Duncan

Bookin the GIG

One of the main reasons rock stars are so short on gratitude is their failure to understand what their agents have to do to book them. If you have the latest hit on the radio or a million dollar ad campaign yer not gonna be too hard to book. But most of us are just short of a couple a side jobs to pay the rent. Inflating your monetary value over the phone is always harder to do than inflating your ego. The job description for a booking agent probably starts with “must… Continue
