Ross Key performs traditional country, americana, and gospel. He is an affiliate of BMI in Nashville. Key is a professional singer/songwriter having sold through ASCAP in the mid-80s. He has written numerous songs and co-written several recently with his wife, Brenda.
Ross is currently co-writing with multi-platinum songwriter, Roy August, and soon hopes to have a CD released featuring their songs and his own.
Key picked up his first guitar at age 13 teaching himself to play by listening to Chet Atkins and Willie Nelson; taught guitar professionally at 15; traveled Europe at age 16 performing for King Gustaf of Sweden and other dignitaries throughout Europe; traveled in the professional country music, bluegrass, and gospel circuits; won the Virginia State Dobro championship.
Key plays guitar, banjo, dobro, fiddle, mandolin, upright bass, keyboard/piano, and drums.
He takes every performance seriously giving back to Music Row its roots through his traditional country music. His unique picking style sets him apart from those around him.
Ross has over 30 years as a professional musician fronting and setting in with legendary artists such as Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Emmylou Harris, Ronnie Milsap, and others.
Key recently made his move to Nashville permanent in July 2011.
