Scooter is first and foremost a writer. He's written songs that have been recorded by some of the biggest names in gospel music, including the Gaither Vocal Band, Mark Lowry, Jeff and Sheri Easter, Brian Free and Assurance, the Cathedrals, Hovie Lister and the Statesmen, the Martins, and many more. One of Scooter's songs, "Temporary Home", was nominated for a Dove Award as Song of the Year.
"I love the process of writing, but more than that, I absolutely love it when a song is finished and I get to play it for family and friends so they can hear it first! Is it gonna be a hit? My family and friends say it is!"
Scooter and his two sons live just outside Nashville, TN.
