Scot Corey has been performing on drumset and percussion, professionally, since he was 17 years old. His degrees include a Bachelor of Music in Performance (High Honors) from the University of Illinois and a Master of Arts (Education) from Tennessee Technological University (TTU). He has performed in a variety of venues: from local clubs with songwriters – to the Nashville Arena with Michael W. Smith/NSO - to Bonnaroo with the Nashville Chamber Orchestra and Trey Anastasio (Phish) – to Carnegie Hall with the Nashville Symphony Orchestra - to the sanctuary at Green Hill Church (Mt Juliet) every Sunday morning! He has also recorded numerous projects on both drumset and percussion. As a recording musician, he has acquired numerous drums and a barrage of percussion instruments to meet all of the demands of the studio.
Scot has been teaching for 19 years. He taught privately at first, then as an instructor for the Southeast Chamber Music Institute (TTU) and at Freedom Middle School (Franklin, TN), and he is currently serving as adjunct faculty at Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville, TN. He has been a clinician for 18 years and is currently an educational endorser for Pro*Mark corporation. He has also served on Pro*Mark’s Educational Advisory Board.
His latest educational endeavor is performing with the Matrix Percussion Trio (www.matrixpercussiontrio.com), which has been awarded funding from the Percussive Arts Society Zildjian Family Opportunity Fund for 2007-2008, and a Berklee Alumni grant for 2008-2009 clinic/performances throughout the greater Nashville area public schools - to date: 52 schools/20,600 students! The Matrix Percussion Trio’s mission is to bring a wide variety of percussion music to children in the Middle Tennessee school systems.
Most recently, Scot co-wrote an R&B song with Todd London and Brian Siewert that aired on multiple episodes of GUIDING LIGHT.
