I still tell myself that I am first and foremost an artist and songwriter but most of my time these days is spent as a producer and engineer. Been in Nashville since 1993 as a young Belmont studio rat. I worked on my own albums in the 90s and toured those for while. Did my time as a live engineer, road manager, and several other wretched road crew jobs that gave me the drive to work harder at production. Besides writing songs my passion is artist development. I've also turned into way more of a gear nerd than I every thought I would be.
I try to remind myself everyday that I get to do what so many people dream about. That is a blessing. That said, I'm trying to complain less these days since we music types seem to be so good at it for some reason :) I find myself enjoying music way more than I ever have and the competition of this business way less. I still love to get lost in a song or hear an arrangement come together with some magic. It sounds cheesy but, hey, we didn't all get into this to be rich. We're supposed to be the dreamers of the world.
