Occupation:
Drummer
Company Name:
Stoke Inc
About Me:
Been drummin' a long time...I'm 40 years old now, drumming has been a gift from God and it has been my passion since the 6th grade. My wife and children are my life and I have been fortunate enough to have a wife that supports my playing. Went on the road at age 16 and paid countless dues every since. I'm a groove player with a great feel and very consistent meter. I try not to overplay and when I do I try to make it tasteful at least. My influences are: Neil Peart, Buddy Rich, Dennis Chambers, Dave Weckl, Stewart Copeland, Steve Gadd, Carter Beauford and many others. I love to play rock and roll (anykind other than metal) and I really find myself when I play funk.
Number of years working in Nashville area:

Stoke, Yeah, I plan on being there again on Sunday. It is an open jam, but lately there have been other 'session' guys (really pro-serious guys) that they all know and they have been doing the sitting in, but it is a true pleasure to listen to even if you do not get up and play. I have gotten up there a few times and they play what they know, not usually what you know, unless you have a vast 'groove' library for late 70's early 80's groove. If you are on Facebook, request David Northrup as a friend, and he will send you a link to the event whenever they play. You can also request me if you wish. It is under Michael Catone, Nashville/Franklin, TN - I will be going to an open jam tonight on Printers Ally @ Bourbon Street Blues & Boogie Bar around 9:pm. That happens every Tuesday with the All Pro Blues Band.

Take care & see you soon!!
Mike

Stoke - Thanks for the kind words!! Small world, eh? The drum kit is (believe it or not) a Vision 100% Birch kit!!! Sounds pretty decent with the right heads (and tuning of course) Hey, there is a Jam session @ the Graffitti Bar in Murfreesboro just about every Sunday. You need to check it out. Serious session and tour players are the band, and they ley cats sit in. David Northrup (also on NMP) is the drummer for Travis Tritt, Randy Smith on bass has played for Womack, Rimes, Yearwood, etc....I'll be there this Sunday. Come on out, would like to meet in person!!! Thanks bro!!
