What I would like to know is, if price was not an object, what would be YOUR ideal mix room in Nashville? Also, I hate to start a brand debate, but would you rather mix on a Neve or SSL if price were not an issue. - I am a physician, hobbyist recording engineer, who is also producing my wife's first record. A lot of the recording has been done in Nashville at Ocean Way, Sound Kitchen, Playground. Worked with the Nashville String Machine, Take 6 and Andrae Crouch on this project. We have also worked at Ocean Way in LA, Avatar and Quad Studios in NY.
I grew up singing a cappella with my brothers. At the age of 12, I listened to one of my father's a cappella records and picked out all the parts by ear. I called my brothers and a friend together, and we formed our first quartet. For the next several years, we performed in churches, on TV, in concert halls around Nigeria, receiving critical acclaim. I produced my first album at the age of 15. Over the next several years, I produced several other albums in the genres of jazz, pop, vocal jazz/ a acapella and learned to engineer. After medical school (1985!) took a long hiatus, and thought I would never get bitten by the music bug ever again! Boy was I wrong! I married a musician, and for the past 8 months have been working on producing her debut album. I have been blessed to work with the finest musicians in the world in some of this planets best studios. Best, I have made many friends, and am truly enjoying what I do. The album is coming across very nicely. Maybe my path will cross lots of yours as we work to complete it.
