John Gee was manning the cockpit and navigated us down to the great little town of Weirsdale, Florida...where we would be playing the Orange Blossom Opry.

“Women usually love what they buy, yet hate two-thirds of what is in their closets.” – Mignon McLaughlin, The Neurotic's Notebook, 1960

One of the things I collect (in addition to shoes) is quotes. I’ve been collecting a variety of quotes for ten years now, but only have about 325 of them because I am very selective in the ones I list in my notebook. Typically I don’t go out seeking these quotes, I let them find me. And I only make note of those that speak to me about the things I am either enjoying or struggling with in life at that time. Therefore, my list reads almost like a personal journal. I can look back at them and… Continue

Stolen Software on "YOUR" Computer???

So while listening to this rather successful songwriter go on and on about how people are stealing music and how its ruining the Music "Business" it occurs to me that a good portion of the software on his laptop computer is shared, "borrowed" or maybe just stolen; from the Microsoft Office programs such as word and excel to the Adobe programs such as Photoshop and Illustrator- to his latest version of Final Cut or iLife which he uses to update his .mac page- not to mention a bunch of his music… Continue

Tuning vocals

I know there are folks who don't think it appropriate to tune vocals, but in this case, we need to make an exception.

There are some "artist" who just can't live without the process. I am working with one currently.

Let's just say, thank God for Melodyne. My ears will last a lot longer do to its benefits!

How important is style/image to a recording artist's career?

A few weeks ago, I was at a #1 party for a well-known country artist. How important is an artist's image when it comes to climbing the charts? Well, this particular artist thought it was so important that one of the first people he thanked for helping him reach #1 was his label's stylist. He certainly already had the talent, but the enhancement of his look has also attributed to his success.

As we know, there is no exact "cookie-cutter" formula to achieving success as a recording… Continue

Stepping out in Faith in todays music industry!

Stepping out in faith is a scary thing, but stepping out in faith into today's music industry might be viewed by some as absolutely terrifying. 2007 and 2008 were our years for horrific flying leaps and unabashed stepping out of our comfort zones. We did this as we courageously developed Myers Brothers Entertainment, LLC and attempted to bring our business onto the corporate grid. This was not without much help, of course, from attorneys, investors, and advisors who shared their wisdom and… Continue

Open Letter to Lilac Moon Productions from John Heinrich!

Judy,

Thanks yet once again for all your hard work! I sincerely appreciate you working with the contracts and publishing on the "Dove" project. Also many thanks for lining up the video session with Morrell Music! All the upcoming video and music projects, that are to numerous to mention, that we will be doing in the new year require someone with your expertise and knowledge and without that it's only a sweet unattainable dream that slips by so slowly one would never notice. Bluegrass Underground

We went to Cumberland Caverns last Saturday to watch the Bluegrass Underground show. It was rainly and yucky outside so you wouldn't think there would be much of a crowd. But there were probably 200 people in the audience. If you like bluegrass music, you should go. If you play bluegrass music, you should try to get booked there!
