"I've Tried Everything!" No...you haven't...

Read the latest from Tom Jackson & Onstagesuccess.com:

'I had a conversation with a young girl who has done multiple showcases for record labels. (She is still trying to “win the lottery,” so to speak.)

I met her last weekend when I taught at Berklee College of Music. Everyone was really nice at Berklee, the professors are very sharp – it was a good experience!

But there was a sense of desperation all around this young artist. She was a…

March 26 / 2011 .. Nahunta, Ga Shenandoah at the Down South Festival_ First Show of the year..

Buss call was Friday at midnight to climb aboard the "Hillbilly Hotel". On this trip would be the usual suspects, Jimmy Yeary, Jim Seales, Mike Mcguire, myself and the fairly new, Jeff Allen, subbing for Mike Folsom on bass. Folsom is still recovering from his hand and arm injury he suffered last year and we wish him a full recovery. At the helm steering us to Nahunter, Ga would be Kyle. This would be Kyle's first time to drive for Shenandoah and we looked forward to getting to know him.…

Stretching Out the Good Parts

Following a Canadian event where our own Tom Jackson (of Onstagesuccess.com) spoke to a group of musicians, Chris wrote in to tell us this:

“Had to try to stay focused on walking carefully out of the Seminar so I wouldn’t get hit by a bus crossing the road… I was so engrossed in what Tom said, I wasn’t watching the street lights. Missed a bus and when I finally got on one, missed the…

If You Think the Homeless Don't Care About Their Appearance, You're Wrong!

This week's blog is a repeat of one I posted on Martin Luther King Day. It's one on a subject I feel is worth re-posting. http://ow.ly/4iOp2

It's You - Only Better!

As Live Music Producers, we are misunderstood quite regularly. And until someone hears Tom Jackson speak, sees us work one-on-one, or watches the Onstage Success teaching videos, they’re usually confused as to what we’re about.  Here’s part of a comment Tom received on his blog called Seeing the Music:

“In some ways you are right on in getting performers to be more visually oriented onstage— At the same time, you are asking…

Don't trust tuned vocals

Loretta Lynn once said that when you start to believe your own press, you are a fool (or something to that effect. It was a while ago I heard it.) I'd like to use that analogy to make a point about another flattering hype-spinner... tuned vocals.

Tuned vocals are a double edged sword. They are sweet music to the listening ear when the untuned version would irritate, distract or hurt. They are sweet liars to the performer. When we start to believe we really sang the vocal that way, we… Continue

File Transfers

Bret, Thank you so much for offering File Transfer to this sight.  It's been a blessing for me.  I have lots of musicians that do long distance collaboration with me and I have used it a lot lately.

Thanks again,
