THE BLACK PAGE DRUM MAGAZINE INTERVIEW (July Cover Issue):
Not since Johnny Cash or Waylon Jennings has Nashville witnessed the emergence of a more colorful character. Connecticut born Rich Redmond has entered the city limits of Music City USA much like a Brama bull might enter a china shop.
Flailing arms, phat groove, twirling sticks, and a twenty-six inch...errr...kick drum, Rich is among the select few who will go down in music history as a drummer who has broken new…

What a long strange trip it has been indeed. We hit the road last week leaving out of Nashville flying into Reno to do a show in Yerington, NV to open up for "Mr. Hanna Montana" who is a very nice man but I dont think He knew we are a rock band that plays a few ballads but, its all good. We always bring the fire wherever we are and try to set the house to flames and do a fine job of it if I do say so myself, yes , WE ROCK!!!
So after the show we had to race, and I do mean race back to Reno…

Greetings every one , this is my first day on the blog for Nashville Music Pros . Its seem to be a great networking place for industry professionals . I am elated to have found such a network here in "Middle Tennessee " . Anyway , I am the principle person behind The R.E.D. Sessions . The Red Sessions host music live and up close or should we just say personal . As of the last few months we have been featuring music D.J.s in concert at various locations here in Music City . We have had the…

the purpose of life is not to be happy. it is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well. -ralph waldo emerson
language is powerful. i have learned that the words i chose
do make a difference. i sense their impact as i read them on the printed page. i feel them the moment they leave my lips and enter the air. i see their effect in the eyes of those who hear…

Okay. Here I am sitting in my studio contemplating what it will be like to move back to Nashville after twenty-five years of being absent.
I really am looking forward to the adventure. I feel somewhat excited to live and work in the place I grew up. I have so many more tools at my disposal than when I lived there last. Now I have my own family which is largely the reason for moving to the Nashville area. My son will get to experience some of the environment I was exposed to as a…

July 19/08 Shenandoah show in Hereford, TX
We rolled out of Nashville at 6 pm Friday evening...for the thousand mile trip to Hereford, Tx to play a charity auction. On board was Jim Seales and Donna K's six year old grandson, Jackson and upcoming artist-singer/songwriter, Billy Ryan.
It was an eighteen hour drive to Hereford, so we had plenty of time to amuse ourselves on the bus. Jackson provided lots of fun with his humor and energy..ahhh, to be that young…

I did a favor for Wynne Adams, a friend and business associate of mine, this week that I don't normally like to do: I judged her talent contest: "Galaxy of Stars Premier Talent Search" Yep. I know, I tell you off and on how much I hate em. But I agreed because, unlike too many talent shows these days, this one:
1. Wasn't rigged.
2. Judges weren't pre-scripted to say mean things to make people cry for ratings.
3. It wasn't "live"... no drama! We judges watched video…

Hello Family,,,
I know its been a minute but my access to a CPU on the road is limited to the "Business Center" at the hotel which is crawling with sticky fingered crumb snatchers that cant wait to check their Myspace. Dont get me wrong,, i love kids,, they taste just like chicken but I'm not gonna fight them for virtual turf,, sorry.
Anyhow ,, its been very busy spreading "The Word" to the people of the world. Giving them that backwards back-beat, that sideways hard to master groove…

Hey everybody my new Flash Drive CD's are available titled, "May I Live In Your World". It has the HIT song that everyone is asking about, "SNAKE FARM". I am one of the first in Nashville to have their album on Flash Drive. There is a display being made by Ruble who owns bars on Broadway. The display will pertain to the History of recorded music and will include my Flash Drive. I am numbering and signing every Flash Drive as this is a Historical moment in recorded music. I give props to Paul…

Stage fright can be, for some, a truly debilitating condition. Sometimes knowing that your thinking stinks is not enough to conquer it.
To illustrate extreme stage fright conditions, here is a story from my sister Pam's experience. Many thanks to my sister for getting this unpleasant memory down from the shelf for us:
"If someone would ask me to sing that day I would have no problem so long as I kept my mind busy till then. But, if as usual they scheduled it in advance,… Continue

One huge and most usual form of stage fright comes from stinking thinking. The good news is, we can change that.
Some synonyms for performance are:
* A public presentation
* A show
* An accomplishment
* A rendering of material
I'm particularly fond of the last one... because the word "render" means to "give". This is the core that will lead to successful performance. Simply render (give) the message (communicate!).
I believe with all my…

So we have gigged in Montana, Colorado, and Utah and have the next one in Virginia (who routes this circus?). And even though it has taken three days (with one driver) to get across this great land of ours I still do not, I repeat, DO NOT mis the airports. I know I harp on this fact but it is because it is a fact. But I digest,, the shows have rocked each and every night with a surgical precision and Jedi like reflex. We have been adding and taking songs on and off the set list and have doing…

Stage Fright - Here is the first post of my upcoming series on the subject.
First, let's define the problem. What is stage fright? Wikipedia says it's ..."an anxiety, fear or phobia related to performing in front of an audience or camera. " That's the most simplified definition I could find. There are levels of this problem, from mild anxiety (butterflies - actually can be a great thing) to incapacitating conditions that causes show cancellations and stop careers in their…

JUNE 13/08 FAYETTEVILLE, NC ,Shenandoah: The Doghouse Bar & Grill
Shenandoah rolled out of Nashville around 1:15 am and started the journey to Fayetteville, NC. This time we had Jim Seale's son, Jake and his friend Mike along for the ride. It was good to see Jake again...it had been quite a while since he'd been out with us. Bart, Mcguire and myself played songs and hung out in the back lounge till early hours, (what's new)... while the rest of the crew watched some comedy in the…

June 6/08 GEORGIANA, AL Shenandoah at the Hank Williams Sr. Festival
We arrived in Georgiana, Al early in the day but hung out at the hotel till around 6 pm before we headed to the venue. There was no need to get there earlier because we could not get the stage till 8:45 that night..they had a lot of other stuff going on..local acts, contest winners, etc.
I got off the bus and immediately a fan called me over to sign a picture he had. He was a true fan of Hank…

June 5th/08 CORSICANA, TX - Shenandoah at The Palace Theater
Once again the bus we affectionately refer to as the "Hillbilly Hotel", left Nashville around
12:30 am with a slightly smaller crowd than what we had last week. No guests ..just the band and of course, the driver. A lot of us were dealing with the seasonal allergy and sinus crud , so once we hit the bunks for bed, it sounded like a symphony of coughs and snorts all night.
We arrived at the venue Thursday…

Austin, TX May 31 Cattle Baron’s Ball Shenandoah show
We finally got the bus rolling out of Nashville around 1 am and headed down that long road to Austin,TX
We had a couple of guests with us , Todd Wilkes, a music row song plugger and
Billy Ryan, singer-songwriter..a familiar face on many of our trips. Some of us stayed up till the sun came up tellin' stories and playing new songs we had written. Some of us were pretty darn tired the next day.
We got…
