Passing of Fred Carter Jr.

Just got a message that guitarist extraordinaire Fred Carter Jr. has passed away. Fred was one of Nashville's finest guitarists who had a great ear, great style and a understanding of the guitar like none other I've met. I am proud to have written songs with him, fished with him and known him. He was the father of Deana Carter (Strawberry Wine) and son Jeff. A very musical family, an extreme talent and will be sorely missed.

Who Would Have Ever Thought!

Both of my parents had very little education and therefore, making a living to support a family was a very difficult situation for my Father to say the least. We were a family of six and times were very lean. At the age of 10 we moved to the state of Oregon. It was a beautiful State and the people there were very nice. It was at that age that I began to notice that I was the girl with the bucked teeth, messy hair and wrinkled clothes with the shoes that were too… Continue

A New York State-of-Mind; How Bad Do You Want It?

I just finished working with an artist and his band in New York City. Two of the hottest days they’ve had there in awhile and our cramped rehearsal room just refused to cool down. Even the car that took to the airport had no A/C! So I’m a bit picky when it comes to temperatures and being comfortable…. sue me.…

My Opry Dad!

I have what I call an "Opry Dad."

That would be the one and only Snuffy Smith. For those of you who do

not know who he is, he was Brenda Lee's bass player in the band called

The Casuals. He also worked with Tex Ritter, John Ritters Father and

also toured with Little Jimmy Dickens of The Grand Ol Opry just to

mention a few of his many, many credits. About two years ago Snuffy and

I met. Neither of our lives have ever been the same.…
