Vocal Control for Studio Singing

A large part of vocal training involves learning vocal control. Without vocal control, any vocal recording will suffer dreadfully. With it, you can do things you can only dream about without it.

Another problem with lack of control is that if you are singing with any degree of power, you are going to experience a lot more vocal fatigue and risk damage to your instrument if you sing too long. With it, you can sing all day and not experience vocal strain. Yes, it's true! And a lack of… Continue

Vocal Range: How To Extend It To What You Need

How can you increase your vocal range? It's a question I hear all the time. Many times, this question is uninformed. There's no need to sing in whistle register if you're not doing Maria Carey style vocal runs, or singing the part of "Tony The Tiger" in those commercials. Why people have contests over this eludes me. Here's a more informed question:

How much vocal range do you need?

Answer: You need enough range to sing the songs you want to sing... without straining your… Continue

The Lion Remains Persistent

Lion has meticulously spent the past several days and nights writing and recording. His doctors still insist for him to stay in bed and rest, but it has become clear that Lion refuses to let anything deter him from staying true to himself and his work which he loves. His knee is healing phenomenally well as he continues intense physical therapy multiple times a week. Trust me, Lion will be walking again, and much sooner than you think. It's just… Continue

JIM COLYER & KYMBERLY BRYSON BIO FOR TRIPLESTRAND PRODUCTIONS

I am Jim Colyer and I am a songwriter in Nashville. I began writing for women during the Shania Twain era. In 2009, I met Kymberly Bryson at BuckWild Saloon. She was singing, and I felt there was something in her voice that matched my writing style. It was that bluesy element. We began recording at Direct Image Studio. It came natural, and we soon had a 10-song CD. The songs are rockin' country, a blend of the old and new.
