Alex Van Halen From Modern Drummer Magazine:
MD: Isn’t it great that kids can have instant singles downloaded to their iPods?
AVH: I thinks it’s destroyed the whole idea of having an album. To have a collection of songs that are somewhat connected, but not. The idea to have a cohesive piece of work to be representative of a certain period of your life, those things that have depth and add meaning to what you do, aren’t there anymore. This is a disposable society and…

Here are a couple spreadsheets that I put together to quickly calculate all the little costs that go into a tracking session. It includes all the H&W and Pension costs for the players, cartage, producer, engineer, assistant, studio, piano tuning, backups, and misc. You can plug in numbers and in a few seconds have an accurate idea of tracking costs. There are two scales... Master and Limited Pressing. Just put the appropriate numbers into the colored areas. Remember the union rates will go…

First off nothing beats a real piano in a great studio. That being said, its getting alot easier to fool people with samples. I'm getting the best response out the Kontakt version Sampletekk pianos (7Seas Grand, TBO, & Black Grand).
I'd say the next gen pianos are going to be amazing. Hopefully we can start getting pianos that come on their own hard drive....
Let me know if you have any tips for getting the most out of a sampled piano (Midi tricks, EQ, Limiting). I have…

I don't know about you, but I've had some REALLY bad times and some REALLY good ones....I'm so glad that Father said He would bring us THROUGH the valleys....
It's hard to look at your circumstances (while your going through them) and say, oh yeah, I know that Father is getting glory out of this and…

How many, many times have we heard this phrase? (READY! SET! GO!) The question we have to ask ourselves, ESPECIALLY ME is "who is doing the talking here" and which "voice" is telling us we are ready and everything is set and it's time to make that move.
I've learned from many experiences that if it isn't God's… Continue

When I was growing up as a preacher's kid, the words: IT'S PRAYING TIME became a "constant" but also a very "ordinary" phrase to me...Me and my brother jus took it for granted that whatever the need was, the PREACHER would handle it and everything would be ok...My mom taught me how to pray, how to fast and HOW TO… Continue

How many times have each one of us stopped dead in our tracks and just looked up into Heaven and shouted: "WHY LORD" and WHY ME?" I know I have.
The thing or actually the "fact" that I've come to realize is just how important this word "WHY" is? Let me explain...When we are called by God (and we know this… Continue

I’ve been having a blast in the studio recently working on a new CD. It’s actually going to be a new-and-improved “debut” CD. Like John Mayer’s second record (or the Barenaked Ladies if you’re Canadian), it will include re-recorded versions of several of the songs from my first “You Don’t Know Me” release along with a bunch of new songs. It’s intended for national distribution in Canada. My first CD (which will soon be out of print) was actually a combination of demo recordings that were made…

This is a fix for the unusable noisy audio output on the G5's.
I personally like having the computer audio out available to play Itunes or webstuff without taking over my Digi hardware .......
Go to http://developer.apple.com/tools/download/ __ Download and install CHUD.___Once it's installed, go to your hard drive>Developer>Extras>PreferencePanes.... Double click and install the processor preference. It will install and open up your system preferences…

It's been forever, but my new pizza delivery schedule is killing my online time. It's getting harder and harder to stay in touch with my "friends" on the Battle Star Galactica chat room. All is well here. Made it through the holidays with only a minor surgical procedure as a result. Plus the doctor said the rash would only last another year or two!!
Peace and Happy New Year.....

The other day I had heard from a friend of mine that they were having a casting call for the Fox TV show Don't Forget the Lyrics. She happened to be over at the house one night when we were watching it and had mentioned that I would do good on that show.
All that to say that they had the first round of auditions today and I have made it through to the second round tomorrow.
I'll keep you posted.

December 28th
On the show Everybody Loves Raymond, Ray had ruined his dad jazz albums 30 years earlier by moving them to close to the furnace. Ray decides to replace them with CD versions of the lost albums. His dad won’t have it or embrace the technology. They finally listen to the cds then Debra tells him let’s hear the albums. They put them on, needle drops, stactic, static, pop, pop, Jazz music starts, dad smiles and says now that’s music.
