Uncle Rico is still alive and well...

As I pondered in a blog a while ago, the Uncle Rico character in Napoleon Dynamite longed to go back to 1982 and do things differently in high school.  I guess there's a couple ways you can look at that, but rather than lament that things in our biz are difficult and long for the "good old days" I figure that there is good music to be made and that in itself is of importance.  Many of my friends in the biz, who are world class musicians and audio folks, have taken to making little recordings…

Uncle Rico Revisits "The Basement Tapes" Part 2

In the last post, I wrote about finding an old cassette that had a bunch of really experimental, clever, crazy music that a couple buddies and myself created over 25 years ago. Uncle Rico's revisit to "The Basement Tapes"

Every now and then I have to take a trip back to my past and remember when music used to be really fun. You know, like when you and your buddies didn't care if everything was perfectly in tune and time as long as it felt right. Maybe the lyrics meant something to you, if no one else, and you thought you were doing what the Beatles did since you only had 4 tracks as well.

I'm in the clique...

"... I'm really slick, I know every trick and I can get a chick 'cause I'm in the clique" (I think that's how the old Todd Rundgren song goes).
