The "Get Info" Box In Pro Tools - USE IT!!!

Since the common Tracksheet has all but gone away, how about using this box in Pro Tools. Write down stuff like, who cut it, who the assistant was, where it was cut, maybe a phone number, tracking date, sample rates, file types, external clocks and hey how about tempo & Keys. Create it wit your tracking template. It takes a lot of guess work out of the impersonal use of computers. And while we're at it, those little boxes underneath each track in the Mix window, USE IT. Who, What Mic, Pre, Compressor................. These are not trade secrets. These are all items that used to appear on a Tracksheet. Current Mood: Annoyed.............................. Fear not, I'm adjusting my meds next week ;-)

I wish everyone would read and follow the NARAS guidelines for Pro Tools. It is a great system for keeping Pro Tools Sessions, and session data organized. Understanding these guidelines will also benefit all DAW users regardless of what platform you are working on.

Here is a link to the Grammy Association's Producers and Engineers wing where the NARAS Guidelines are located:

Assuming the drummer keeps good enough time to do this............. I haven't found one, yet. Paul Leim comes close. he's a human metronome..... ;-)

you can create a tempo track from something like a high hat, then use grid mode to move things around

Steven, what good is the grid if you don't have a tempo.

May I add to that what type of parts there were. Nothing worse than getting 24 BGV's labeled BGV's 1-24 and having to sort through the parts to figure out which ones go with which. How about giving a description of what the E/GTR playing was playing, arpegs, crunch, funk, whatever the part was. Just little things like that would be so helpful.

PLEASE put the tempo and key in the edit window above the markers!! Man that is something that makes life so much easier for everyone involved. And have people ever heard of the grid?? If it's possible, take 5 seconds and put the song on a grid.
