Hey Twangsters,
I've gone Halloween crazy this year. I've got a real pumpkin on my front porch plus a cheesy "light brite" looking electric pumpkin in my window. I can't wait for our MOD NIGHT HALLOWEEN-A GO GO DANCE PARTY. (I named it "Dance Party" to try to force you guys to dance -ha!) I'm thinking you'll feel like dancing if you wear a costume, but remember.. don't feel obligated to wear a costume, just come out and have fun.
Ok, so today, I'll be hanging up posters. You might think a Nashvillian micro star would hire others to do that. ha! I actually tried that, not cause I think I'm above it, I'm just so socially odd, the thought of going into some coffee shop and having to ask to hang my poster creeps me out. But, I'm gonna have to do it cause hiring the poster people hasn't work out that well. Six months ago, I hired a guy from craiglist, he cashed my $50 check, stole my staple gun, tape and posters and never put them up!! I called him a whole bunch of times but never heard from him. Then I hired Mike(Twang Deluxe guitarist) Waldron's teenage daughter. She ended up stapling her finger to a pole on lower bway and had to quit cause she was bleeding too much. I hired her the next month but she fell and sprained her ankle before she could do it. Another guy from craiglist was really great. He seemed to have this whole little business with hanging band signs from his scooter. He did great one month and when I hired him the next month, I never saw any posters up. I finally tracked him down and he said his scooter was ripped off and he was gonna focus on his piano playing for now.
So that's why I'll be making the rounds with my posters, staple gun, thumbtacks and tape. I'm mainly gonna just do coffee shops, music stores and vintage shops.
I can't wait to see the bands who are playing on Oct 30th. OUT OF ORDER is a trio of 2 12yr olds and a 16 yr old. Is that cute or what? I was in a band when I was 12, "The Electric Cats". It was 4 girls from my street all playing acoustic guitars. I guess "The Acoustic Cats" didn't sound cool enough. I'm the only one still in music. Two are nurses and I don't know where the other one ended up. I hung out with one of them a while back and remarked - how cool it was to grow up on a street where we all had this great common love of music. She informed me that I was the only one who was into music and I had forced everyone to learn a bunch of songs out of some Beatle book. ha!! That's not how I remember it but I was pretty enthusiastic about music, even then.
I still love music and I still love Halloween. I can't wait to wear my Halloween costume. I'm not sure if the Twang/Fang Deluxe guys and gals will be doing the costume thing. Singer, Lori Hall, said she wanted to wear a costume and they guys were talking about just wearing masks last week. Do not feel obligated to wear one. That's why I'm doing a mod guitar raffle instead of a costume contest.
I'm hoping Colourmusic wear costumes but I'm just glad they're here. They're on my top friends and they do some really creative music. They're from Oklahoma so please make them feel welcome.
That's it for now, I'm off to hang the posters.
Your mod pal,
Britt
