Just a note that I'm doing some Jazz stuff over the next couple of weeks that's cool stuff....
I'm playing with Mike Gallaher (Joe Cocker, Adrian Belew) axe-meister extraordinaire at Saffire's at The Factory in Franklin Saturday from 7-10 PM on March 22 and again on the 29th. Stop in and say hi to "Zsa Zsa" my Hungarian String Bass as we play everything from standards to John Mayer tunes
Monday , March 24th I'm playing a Smooth Jazz gig with Joe Gross (trumpet), Carl Albrecht (drums)and Dave McKay (piano) at F. Scott's in Green Hills from 7-10. I'll be playing fretless 6 string bass on this one....
Come by and then drop in on Michael Henderson at the Bluebird afterwards for a cool, bluesy evening...
Next Friday, March 28th I'm appearing in Concert at Fisk University with my old friend guitar wizard Stan Lassiter and the Fisk Jubilee Singers. Time TBD
Finally, join me and friends Chester Thompson, Stan Lassiter, Sandra and Bruce Dudley, Rod McGaha, Rahsaan Barber, Dr. Jeff Kirk, Tracy Silverman, Bruce Bennett, Henry Smiley, and Kate Paradise for my Faculty Recital Series Concert on Monday, April 7th at 7:30 PM at Massey Recital Hall on the Belmont Campus. I'll be playing everything from Classical String Bass to Chris McDonald's smokin' arrangement of a Chaka Khan tune from back when we played it in Contraband with Chris Rodriguez, Mark Douthit,Mike Hayne, Jerry KImbrough and Steve Brewster. Ah, memories.....
A cautionary note: Even though I'm playing more notes than legally allowed over the next couple of weeks, I still love playing and recording both kinds of Music-Country and Western.....
