The Album Name and Song "Highway" was inspired by a situation I was going through with my mother. The band At that time, we were called "Hard To Get" We Were mostly road dogs and I ate slept and dreamt the "dream" the big Sign, the major deal, so we spent most of our time/life on the road.
After 10 years of hitting it hard , I was told that my father [who had always been the backbone of my Career] Had to have major Heart surgery so it slowed me down , I came off the road to be home and with family, things kinda wound down, and my priorities Shifted . I started to learn what was really important in life for me, After a long year My father passed away.
I decided to just focus on Home and local work. Months had passed and my bills and urgency to get on with things grew, So I thought I could do [some] road work and still be there for my mother, She had been married to my father for 42 years so the loss was devastating.
Things started picking up a bit, but several months later my Mom came down with cancer, she tried to hide it but later it was pretty obvious. She was a tough ole Indian[Cherokee] The elders would have called her getting sick a "Willing" to crossover, She suffered for months in a hospital in Morgan-town WV, and with contracts and bills I had to go," I just couldn't stay" with a heart that was torn I proceeded to leave like so many times in the past, And the words just came out.
I heard the melody the course 1st and 2ND verse, yes [if it never sells a copy I know it was a divine gift from my Mother] who passed away the second day I was on that trip.
So with that brief moment in my life I would like to dedicate this Cd to my Mother , its called Highway. I know there are many people with a story similar to mine, My heart goes out To everyone that has had a loss and the road has kept them away in their final hours.
There have been many projects that led up to this one,I just felt it was just time to say thanks, MOM /DAD for all that you did and for all your Love and support in my early years.
Here's one of their favorite sayings, "It is through your difficulties in life that builds your character" Not your Achievements.
