Howdy Folks,
Based on all the calls I get for Logic support, I've started toying with the idea of doing small-scale "seminars" focused on optimizing Logic for your workflow.
Depending on response, I could focus on any of these areas:
- General optimizations, tips & tricks to vastly speed up your work
- Scoring for picture, virtual orchestration & integrating 3rd party VI's
- On tour: optimizing Logic for live use
In any case, I'm thinking of a 2-hour session at my studio with no more than a few people at a time, and I would tailor each session to the above focus. Here are some Logic features people tend to under-utilize, and which I would cover in detail:
- Making Screen Sets work for you
- Custom key commands
- Turning any MIDI controller into an advanced personal assistant
- Audio editing: not just for ProTools
- The Environment - what it is, and the magic it can unleash
- Keeping your projects & assets organized
- Advanced customization (roll your own icons, channel strips, presets)
- Logic Plugins: if I told you, they'd kill me:
...how to give W*ves, SS* & U*D a run for their money
- Advanced MIDI editing
- Scoring with integrated Quicktime video
Finally, to sweeten the deal, I would send you home with a collection of goodies that I've collected & created over my 16+ years with Logic:
- Custom icons, channel strip & plugin settings, including:
- a rave-reviewed Hammond B3 channel strip
- top-notch custom reverb presets & impulse responses based on
Abbey Road, Todd-AO, Ocean Way and other famous rooms
- Custom samples I've created from famous synth modules
- Custom orchestral samples & presets for scoring
To keep it affordable yet valuable, I'm thinking no more than $100 per person for a 2-hour session. That's less than half the going rate for this kind of thing, and I'm confident you'll go home with a significant amount of time-saving (and therefore money-saving!) knowledge, not to mention countless hours of work on all that custom content.
So there you have it. If you're interested, let me know. I could schedule an event anytime before the end of March, or again in early May or late June.
Peace,
Jim Daneker
