Just thought I’d come up for air and check in to see what’s happening at NMP after being away from it for what seems to be 2 or 3 years. I knew Bret was onto something when he created NMP several years back but had no idea it would become the “place to hang” that it has…..KUDOS Brett. After years of working with so many of my friends and heroes, I went through a time of frustration as the Music Business (as I knew it) began to dwindle. I found myself working with budgets that made it virtually impossible for me to be creative. Don’t get me wrong, I was thankful to be working but I found myself struggling to find the motivation needed. In October of 2010, I accepted a different kind of position…my mission was to begin a new label out of San Antonio, Texas called Difference Media. It’s taken awhile to get everything set up (staffing, distribution, accounting, marketing, etc.), but I have found myself in a situation that feels to me much like what Music Row did in the late 80’s and early 90’s. The cool thing…I’m in and out of Nashville as much as needed but interestingly enough… there is life outside of Nashville. I’m finding that there is no such thing as long distance anymore. I’m thankful that I continue to work with so many in Music City that I love and respect.

It’s been said that everything is for a season. My season in Nashville lasted for 32 years….we’ll see how this goes but so far I’m having an absolute blast. I look forward to seeing and hopefully working with many of you soon.
