Here are a couple spreadsheets that I put together to quickly calculate all the little costs that go into a tracking session. It includes all the H&W and Pension costs for the players, cartage, producer, engineer, assistant, studio, piano tuning, backups, and misc. You can plug in numbers and in a few seconds have an accurate idea of tracking costs. There are two scales... Master and Limited Pressing. Just put the appropriate numbers into the colored areas. Remember the union rates will go up, so check www.afm257.org to get the latest. Master scale is good through January 2010... If there's something I'm missing please leave a comment to let me know. I know there's a signatory processing kind of fee that's pretty minimal that I don't have in there. It doesn't look pretty, but it works!
