Yeah, I might hit you up sometime. I'd love to see the way you have your studio set up for orchestration. My setup is meager compared to yours, but we both use Logic and I'd love to see how you've got it tweaked.
Hey Jim, your stuff sounds awesome man. Truly realistic and fantastic arrangements. We've actually both worked with a guy named David DeMarco. I hope we cross paths sometime man. I'd love chat about this virtual orchestration stuff.
Hey Jim! Yeah, one more site to check out every now and then and kill more time...HA! I wasn't able to get to the show the other night to see you guys. I tried a couple of different avenues and none seemed to pan out. We'll definitely catch one soon.

BTW, how do you like the Stylus RMX? I worked on something that used it recently, and it sounded great. Also, Greg Nelson keeps mentioning that I should get it (along with Omnisphere). But since I have SD2, I'm not sure if I'll really use it. And I don't use loops a ton. Do you have both of them? What do you think?
Glad you like MEK. I just found her on this site last year, the day she joined! The moment I heard her voice and songs, I was captivated. I thought it was a good match for me as a producer. She thought so too. So we're just cranking through as many songs as we can. We co-wrote the one you're digging. We're guessing we'll have a full project done by March. Then distribution? A&R guys are already crawling over it. We're just lining up stuff as we go. Kind of an amazing find.
Thanks for asking.

I think you just sent it to me one day when we were swapping ideas. It was in my library. Not on iTunes public site. Sorry for confusion. Just thought it sounded like your work. Did you get that gig with it? Btw, just waiting on my chassis, and I'll be up and running on the 8-core.
I found this "ninja stomp master" track on my itunes with no credits on it. I'm thinking it's yours. Sound familiar? It sounds like SD2 stuff. Pretty amazing drum programming. Kind of miami vice sounding.
MAN! Thank you! Such kind words. Love the imogen heap stuff, so, that's a high compliment to me. Made all those BGV's in Melodyne. SERIOUS FUN! But very tedious work, though. But work that's enjoyable at every moment. Just picked up the Trilogy from Spectrasonics. That's where I got that bass sound. First attempt using it. Just pulled the patch up and went to town. Easy program.
I'm thinking I'll do basically what you're doing on the 8-core. I'm putting in three 1TB drives, in addition to the system drive. So I'll set one for recording, the other two for streaming samples. I know it's not the SAS, but the SAS array will have to come later. Only so much to spend at the moment.
How much did you spend on your drive array? Did you do the fiber channel one, or more basic? You have like 10 drives, right? I'll need that many, I think. Only problem is, I don't know how to split up EW/QL Pianos. 320 GB of samples. The only SAS drives I've seen thus far are only as big as 80GB. I'll only ever use one piano at a time, so I just need one drive that can hold 320GB for that sample set. I guess when I set up the drive array, I may have to keep that library on the SATA internally. I'm told that I'll run a million times faster even loading my libraries in the internal SATAs.
Thanks again for your kind words. Really means a lot to me.
I'm about to make the 8-core jump. Waiting on the chassis for the PT cards first. Then I'll go out and buy it. I'm curious if you went all the way to the 3.2ghz machine, or if you're running on less, and feeling satisfied. I recall you said you're crunching up all the PLAY instances with no problems. Just curious which machine you're doing it on. Touch base when you can please.
Cheers,
Pete.

If you ever want some fiddle on a project consider me...Thanks so much -Ben
Jim you have no clue how bad I have wanted to sit in on a movie sountrack session such as what you do. IMO that is the ultimate...When I listen to music, that is what I listen to...It inspires me... Thanks for letting me be your friend on here...
You the man...
Wasup Jim? LTNS. Well, we've found our home in Franklin! Closing on the 30th of June. Not moving up officially until the last week in July, though. It's in McKay's Mill, on the East side of 65 in Franklin. Not so far that you can't come hang out, drink some java, and talk shop.
Hope your projects are going well. I'm looking forward to hanging out. By the way, I got Kontact 3 to work right on my system. It turns out there's a little switch on it that turns off, if you can believe it, the multi-processor ability. I finally read something that said if you don't do that, it'll cause all sorts of problems. Running on one, it works like a charm. Now I LOVE IT! Thanks for the tip, tipmiester!

Hey Jim,
In case I didn't tell you at the seminar, that was a great lecture. That zip file you gave us was loaded with goodies! Thanks again. -Jules
