Hey, man. I'd love to see your setup some day.

There was some pretty good music made in the dark ages.....I'm using X1 Producer now. Still getting used to it but I'm liking it pretty well, particularly the screenshots. Very nice feature.

Hey, where can I go to hear some of your stuff?

Good to hear. I'm not sure wwhy Sonar isn't better accepted...at any rate, glad I'm not all alone on Planet Sonar. What version are you using?

Hey Jon - my friend Kent Burnside plays with Louise quite a lot, and he said the same thing. I guess I better get on that. Good to hear from you and good luck with the project!

OK sounds good. Just let me know when you have free moments.

I'm up against trying to get a project done, finish another by March, and with the new baby, I'm not getting as much work done as I'd like to be getting done, so I'm having to sacrifice a bit of networking and social time. But trust that I WANT TO! Especially want to see your setup. It's such a beautiful room.

Crazy but we can find a time. What do you have in mind? I'd say I have some free time this Saturday for sure. During the week I'm just locked up pretty much at this point.

BTW, 14 songs is a lot! My last one was 11, and it wore me out! Finished it up about a month ago.

Let me know when you're back around, and we'll get together.

Thanks Jon! I appreciate your kind comments very much! I can't wait to finish off her project. It should be done around March. We're 8 songs in right now.

May have to be late in the week next week. I'm covered up at the moment. Funny how it's never steady. It's either on or off.

You want me to come your way, or you come my way? I'd like to see your space. Good space can't be replaced by good gear, but both are good!

Funny, I grew up learning piano on a Knabe. My brother has it now. It was a 5'9" I think. My mom bought a Kawai GS-80 8'2" when I was about 12. Maybe since I spent so many years playing it, I've always thought it was the best playing. Love the low end sound of it too. Someday it'll be mine, but I don't wish that day to be any time soon. I'd rather Mom keep using it for many years first.

I'm kind of a nut for collecting samples. Admittedly. I have the EW/QL Plat pro & XP (Play), RA, Colossus, Gypsy, SD2, VOP, Pianos (PLAY), Choirs, and maybe a few I can't think of. I use them all every day. Love them. Well, I use choirs the least. I just can't really make them sound like I want. Somewhat disappointed in that one, but the rest I love. Also love the IK stuff. It's tons cheaper, but particularly love the "Sonic Synth 2" program. Also use their miroslav. Some of the sounds are really solid there, and very easy to use.

But again, I don't have a REAL piano! LOL. Wish I did. But could think of a million things to drop the cash into other than that, like a new 8-core (running a g5 still).

Sorry for the novel. We should get together sometimes. We're both gear junkies. Isn't everyone here, though?

whew! I was imagining a track with the sounds of crickets and frogs in the background. Something I could easily capture in my back yard as well, though it's a bit smaller.

What format do you use in your studio? Just curious.

I saw you took an interest in Merry Ellen Kirk. Her songs and voice are amazing, aren't they? I'm wondering when the rest of this community will take note. I've never found such a captivating artist.

Cheers,

Pete.

Sure thing, John!

Where in town are you? I'm out in Franklin.

How'd that recording the vocal outside thing work? That's something I've never tried. Looks like you have a beautiful place, from the photos.

Hey Jon.

I wanted to let you know that I created a survey - an anonymous one - for men in the audio recording industry, and wanted to invite you to participate (if you feel so inclined).

It is for any/all MEN in the industry - a quick 10-question survey - for statistical and industry research.

If interested, cut and paste the following link into a browser window:
http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=wooLiff4odvhh4q9uT5arg_3d_3d

It is of the utmost importance that you be honest - brutally honest, if need be, when taking this survey - and remember, it is anonymous. Say was you think and feel!

Thanks for your participation and rock on!

Sincerely,
Jill Kares

P.S. Please feel free to pass this on to any male in the industry. The more that take this survey, the more data we have to work with.
